This work on paper by New York artist, Thomas Broadbent depicts a flock of seagulls nested on a blue mid-century modern sofa. The birds in this painting all perch and stand, looking left as if out to sea, or as if they are attracted by something off the edge of painting's edge. A pile of sand mixed with dry seagrass and sticks, lays just beneath the couch. Barnacles have started to form along the edge of the couch.

Based in naturalist observation, this painting creates a realistic scenario with a surrealist view of nature intermingling with elements of man.
