The Front Room is proud to present Distorted Reality, featuring a bevy of Front Room favorites at a beautiful new space on Warren Street in Hudson NY.
Prepare to have your reality distorted. In this exhibition a forty ton subway car floats effortlessly through the sky in Stephen Mallon’s “Train in the Sky”; A raven relaxes with a glass of scotch beside a schoolroom clock in Thomas Broadbent’s “11:17”. In the (almost) abstract photograph “Golf Green”, by Zoe Wetherall, the perspective is completely flattened, no horizon line, a deep blue pool of water is separated from a vibrant field of green by an undulated line of bushes and white stone. In the Beth Dary’s “Caged” glass bubbles are encased in woven steel wire, simultaneously protecting and entrapping the organic elements within. Light and airy, their transparency belies their actual weightiness. The work in this show is not what it might at first appear to be, and will transform your perception through altered perspectives, suspension of disbelief in narrative, and disorienting vantage points.
