The Front Room Gallery is proud to present, “Foragers” a solo exhibition of new large-scale watercolor paintings by Thomas Broadbent. This is Broadbent’s fifth solo exhibition at Front Room Gallery.

In these new paintings by Thomas Broadbent, the native habitat of the animals depicted has been altered to consist of cast off and reclaimed elements of human domestically. Foraging through their new environment, the animals gather together, collecting and searching for resources they can use. Broadbent personifies the creatures, presenting the question as to whether the animals are left with the remains of trappings of man or if they have altered their environment themselves.

Thomas Broadbent selects endangered wildlife as the key figures in his compositions, furthering the inquiry into the impact of man on the biology and nature of these beings. The artist studies the anatomy of the animals in a very concentrated and focused manner, creating a hyper-realist portrayal, with intense detail of fur, feathers and skin.

In addition to the large scale paintings we are offering a limited edition fine art print by Thomas Broadbent, depicting five endangered animals including: a ring tailed lemur, red panda, sun bear, Grauer's gorilla, and the critically endangered Black Rhino. Sponsored by the Holtzman Wildlife Foundation, the Front Room Gallery and Skink Ink, this museum quality fine art print aims to increase awareness, promote animal welfare, conservation and species preservation of these beloved animals. Fifty percent of the sales price will go directly to conserve, repopulate and protect these five animals. Upon purchasing a print, the donation may be directed to either support a single animal, or have it split evenly among Rhino Conservation Botswana, Gorilla Rehabilitation and Conservation Education (GRACE) Center, Animals Asia Foundation Limited, Red Panda Network and Centre ValBio Madagascar.

You can see the original large scale painting on loan for the duration of the exhibition, as well as purchase a print to support these animal organizations.
